Beef is a stir-fry’s best friend. Cook your beef strips then add your favorite vegetables, sauce and other ingredients, and you’ll have a delicious one-dish meal on the table in minutes.

Best Beef Cuts for Stir-Fry

  • Top Sirloin Steak
  • Flat Iron Steak
  • Petite Tender Roast
  • Ribeye Steak
  • Strip Steak
  • Top Round Steak
  • Eye of Round Steak
  • Skirt Steak
  • Flank Steak

These are ideal cuts for stir-frying, but any cut will do as long as it’s sliced thin enough.

Prepare Your Beef

Once you’ve chosen the right cut, you’re already nearly finished preparing your meal.

  1. Cut beef into thin, uniform strips or pieces.
  2. Marinate to add flavor, if desired, while prepping other ingredients.
  3. Heat a small amount of oil in wok or large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

Cook Your Beef

Stir-fry in 1/2 pound batches (do not overcrowd), continuously turning with a scooping motion. Cook until outside of beef is no longer pink. Add additional oil for each batch if necessary.

Expert Tips

  • Cook beef and veggies separately, then combine them to heat all the way through. This helps avoid over and under-cooking either item!
  • If you need to thicken your cooking liquid, dissolve cornstarch in water and add to the mixture.
  • No wok, no problem! A 12″ skillet with slightly sloped sides will work just fine.
  • Microwave or steam vegetables beforehand to save time.
  • You can easily throw in instant rice or udon noodles to be creative.
  • For a low-carb solution, use butter lettuce or romaine to make a wrap.
