Step: 01: Season beef cubes
Season beef cubes with salt and pepper.
Step: 02: Brown beef
Heat Dutch oven to medium heat and brown beef on all sides. Pour off drippings.
Step: 03: Add ingredients
Cover beef with liquid like water or broth. Add other ingredients.
Step: 04: Cook stew
Bring stew to a boil and cover. Reduce heat and simmer low and slow for 3-4 hours on the stove top.
Brown beef in single layer batches to create a crust. Overcrowding will cause beef to steam. Stew in a slow cooker for 4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low.
