Fueled by Beef and the Texas Beef Team

Fueled By Beef! That’s what more than 800 Texans are doing before they train and run in marathons, half marathons, 10Ks, 5Ks and triathlons. These athletes LOVE beef and show it.

The Texas BEEF Team started in 2008 as a small grassroots running team with 125 members who were passionate about enjoying beef and its nutrition benefits. Five years later the BEEF Team has grown to approximately 800 members all across the state. You can see BEEF Team members at most road races and triathlons throughout the state — both as race participants and along the race course as water stop and cheering volunteers.

Not only do dedicated BEEF Team members wear their shirts on race day, but you can see them throughout Texas proudly wearing their shirts at the gym, outside while training and while volunteering in the BEEF Team cheer section along the race course.  Go BEEF!

But, you don’t have to be a runner or a triathlete! Just make sure you’re getting out there and being active and eating a healthy, well-balanced diet. Research shows that physical activity is more effective when coupled with a protein-rich diet, because it helps to maintain muscle mass while losing fat.

You may not ever be interested in running a marathon, but whether you’re a beginner athlete or seasoned pro, lean beef can help you power up for the good life and live vibrantly. Following a healthy diet before, during and after exercise will maximize performance and recovery. Healthy lean beef meals will provide you with the essential amino acids you need to be at the top of your game.

In addition, when enjoying a meal with high-quality protein such as lean beef, you don’t have to worry about filling in the nutritional gaps. Research shows that lean beef’s nutrients such as protein, iron and B-vitamins can help you maintain a healthy weight, build muscle and fuel physical activity. The best part is that on average, a 3-oz serving of lean beef is only 150 calories. AND, America’s favorite cuts of beef (like Top Sirloin, T-Bone, Tenderloin steaks and 93% Lean Ground Beef) meet government guidelines for lean and offer the power of protein.

Membership to the Texas BEEF Team is currently closed, however there is a waiting list. Although there is no guarantee that new team members will be accepted, those interested can fill out a short questionnaire to be placed on the waiting list for consideration at TXBeefTeam.org. The Texas BEEF Team, among other Texas Beef Council programs, is funded by the beef checkoff program, a $1 per head assessment on the sale of cattle.
